Empa research campus in Dübendorf

The new laboratory building at Empa will be developed into a modern, multifunctional research campus with around 60 new laboratory and office spaces. Implenia, acting as the general contractor, is responsible for constructing the entire building as well as coordinating and overseeing the interior fit-out of the laboratory spaces. The challenge of this project lies in the flexibility of space design. The entire infrastructure of the laboratory facilities must be easily and quickly reconfigurable and expandable. Given that Köttermann's laboratory furniture is made of steel, a collaboration with Implenia and Empa is ideal. As a long-standing supplier, we understand our customers' needs and can retrofit and relocate laboratory furniture even years later.

The free initial consultation (30 minutes)

In a free initial consultation, we will gather initial information about your laboratory project. What is it about exactly? When is the implementation planned? Do you already have a plan in place? What budget are you aiming to allocate for the project? These and other questions will help us quickly understand the scope of your project. Following this discussion, we will provide you with initial insights regarding materials, feasibility, costs, and next steps towards your new laboratory.

The Proposal

Depending on the project stage, we can provide you with a proposal for consulting and planning services under a mandate agreement. Alternatively, if you already have a clear vision and plans developed by an architect or laboratory planner, we can calculate the exact costs for your individual laboratory project.

The Proposal Presentation

After preparing the proposal for you, we would like to present your new laboratory solution to you. Ideally, this presentation would take place in our showroom using VR goggles, allowing you to see and experience our furniture and solutions firsthand. Following the presentation, you will receive the proposal along with a furniture overview to give you a first impression of the potential solution.

Customization and Finalization

If there are any additional points to be included, we will now finalize the proposal. In the planning phase, you will receive all plans and a performance specification document for your unrestricted use. When it comes to execution, you will receive the final proposal for approval to proceed with the project.

Implementation

After receiving your approval for execution and your signature on the plans, we proceed with technical clarification. Our site manager verifies all details, dimensions, and contacts for trades and construction management on-site to ensure that everything is clarified and operates smoothly during implementation at the construction site.

Assembly and Construction Management

Our construction management team, together with you, verifies and monitors schedules and the delivery of laboratory furniture. Key milestones such as room completion are regularly reviewed. Upon request, we can assume full construction and project management responsibilities or coordinate the assembly with your construction management team until final acceptance.

Acceptance and Commissioning

To ensure you enjoy your new laboratory for years to come, proper training is essential. After installation, your users will receive training on the proper use of the new laboratory – all included with us. Upon request, we can also provide you with an offer for maintenance and service, potentially extending warranty periods up to 5 years.
